Intergenerational exchange for our preschoolers in Mies

Enfant et grand-parent côte à côte

Meeting between preschoolers and Versoix EMS

For several years now, the children in the Preschool group at our KidsCare daycare in Mies have been visiting the residents of EMS Saint-Loup in Versoix.

The partnership between our daycares and the establishment, which houses elderly people, was created in 2016. Every two months, the younger and older members of the group get together for a variety of activities: gentle motor skills, arts and crafts, song exchanges, skill games and a shared snack.

Building respect and empathy

In line with our unique pedagogical approach, these exchanges enable the children to develop respect for the elderly, their spirit of mutual aid and empathy: the children helped serve the snack they shared with their elders.

For the EMS residents, these encounters allow them to recall memories, pass on their knowledge and benefit from the children's energy. As a general rule, the aim of these gatherings is to encourage social mixing and share a convivial moment.

Future gatherings are already scheduled: in particular, to celebrate the arrival of autumn and cooler weather!
